12:00 PM Hear from Artist/Instructor Ivanco Talevsjo and learn about his art and his relationship with Terry Adkins. Ivanco Talevski (b. 1983) lives and works in Philadelphia. His work is made by drawing from observation to develop an image-making vocabulary that allows him to employ structures and relationships from the physical world as allegorical abstractions. Drawings become paintings and etchings, which in turn inform the creation of objects, installations, and scores for sound. In the most recent work, he often turns the exhibition space into a collaborative performance environment. This gesture, much like his drawing process, becomes a space of invention in which a range of associations is made, and new connections are possible. Some of the recent projects have brought together musicians, composers, painters, and stonemasons. All of this work involves opening up space for discussions and even disagreements, while searching for new visual forms. His work has been shown at The Print Center, Napoleon in Philadelphia, Prima Center Berlin, Gallery MC, International Print Center New York, Seoul Museum of Art,  Institute and Museum Bitola in Macedonia, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Art, Horst-Jansen-Museum Oldenburg, Bunkier Sztuki Gallery in Kraków, and others. Talevski received his MFA for the University of Pennsylvania in 2008 and has been teaching at the Undergraduate Fine Arts Department at the School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania since 2008.
